But first, let us tell you a little more about this traditional dessert.
If you were asked where apple pie comes from, you would probably say that this dessert was born in the United States. And it is true that apple pie is a key part of American cuisine. Think how often we see apple pie in Hollywood movies!
You might have heard the expression: “As American as apple pie!”
However, contrary to popular belief, apple pie was not born in the USA, but comes from Europe, where there is a long tradition of growing many varieties of apples: Gala, Royal Gala, Golden, Bertane, Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, Cox, etc.
This dessert was probably invented in England.
In fact, it was the English, and later the Dutch and French who brought this dessert to North America. Therefore, there are different versions of apple cake or pie. In addition to English apple pie, where the dough completely covers the apple filling, there is the delicate French tarte tatin or the delicious German apfelstrudel, which also has nuts.
Now that you know a little more about the history behind this dessert, we want to share our favourite recipe to prepare a homemade apple pie.
The secret to a good apple pie is a crispy and tasty dough, a juicy and flavourful filling and that spicy touch of cinnamon that makes it irresistible. Is your mouth already watering?
Above all, the most important thing: use the best ingredients. And when talking about this dessert, we should never forget that apples—its key ingredient.
There are more than 7,000 types of apples. Who knew? And we each have our favourite or favourites.

We should begin by telling you that making an apple pie takes time. But we assure you that the result is worth it. In total, this recipe will take you 1 hour and 15 minutes, approximately, counting the preparation and baking time.
Let's start!
The first thing we will do is preheat the oven to 180º and grease a cake mould about 22 cm in diameter.
Next, chop the apples into small pieces or cubes in a large bowl, except one that we will laminate and use to cover our cake. Set aside.
In a different bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar until the mixture is soft and frothy. Once the mixture is ready, add the milk and continue beating. Ideally, use a hand blender.
Add the flour, yeast and cinnamon immediately and mix everything well until a soft dough is obtained.
Add the apple cubes and mix again until they are well integrated into the dough.
Pour the mixture into the previously oiled cake mould and smooth the surface with a spatula or spoon.
Heat the peach/apricot jam in the microwave, in the double boiler or in a pan until it is liquid and pour it on the cake's base.
To finish, place the apple slices on top. Then put it straight in the oven!
Tick tock, tick tock. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until we see that the cake has turned golden and is firm to the touch. Mmmmmm! Doesn’t the whole kitchen smell great?
Take the cake out of the oven and let it cool before serving it.
Bon appétit! We hope you really enjoy your homemade apple pie.
